Video: Minneapolis Police Under Fire For Killing Man Under Blanket With Gun By His Side, The Victim Had No Warrant On Him And Legally Obtained The Gun
The Minneapolis Police Department released a body camera video of an officer fatally shooting an armed man on a couch after executing a no-knock warrant.
Police said they shot and killed 22-year-old Amir Locke in a downtown Minneapolis apartment, as members of the department’s SWAT team carried out a warrant related to a homicide investigation in neighboring St. Paul. Amelia Huffman, the interim Minneapolis police chief, said the man had pointed a loaded gun “in the direction of officers,” prompting one of the officers to shoot and kill the man.
The city also included a still from the video showing Locke holding the gun, his trigger finger laid aside the barrel. The top of Locke´s head is barely visible.
The video, which is graphic in nature, shows officers using a key to enter the apartment just before 6:50 a.m. Wednesday. It does not show that officers announce their presence before entering but shows several officers shouted “Police search warrant” several times upon entering.
Locke was under a blanket, seemingly sleeping on a couch when officers entered with guns drawn and flashlights on. Part of his head emerges from the blanket, and seconds later the shots were fired that killed him.
The entry to the apartment and the shooting of Locke spanned a period of mere seconds.

Locke’s relatives say he was licensed to carry a weapon. He has no criminal history in Minnesota.
Locke was struck three times — twice in the chest and once in his right wrist, according to a medical incident report released by the city. Huffman said officers immediately provided medical aid, but Locke later died at a hospital.

Too bad Locke wasn’t using the gun to commit a crime. The cops would have apologized and let him go.

Ok,so, more info here? Was he part of the murder earlier? Was the warrant valid? Some more details. Either way you woke him up screaming at him, several people at once, he’s not going to be able to understand what you are screaming overlapping, and in that town where crime is rampant. Of course he’s going to have a gun. Why not surround the placek bang on the door and yell police search warrant, come out, instead of sneaking in then screaming?

The video on this from last week showed them busting the door open with a handheld ram after screaming SEARCH WARRANT numerous times, and throwing in at least one flashbang, the guy who got shot shot at the cops first, hitting one of them a total of 4 times, which would certainly justify them shooting him. This is week-old news and no one else has this particular video up.
That was a different murder by cop. That victim shot back before being snuffed. The victim was not a suspect on that search warrant either.

This article is garbage lies and the video is fake. The cops were at the wrong place because the address they were given was wrong, but that’s not their fault and they should NOT be vilified for it. Take it up with their dispatcher. The dead guy actually shot at the cops first, and hit one of them 4 times, so they shot him. The cops DID NOT have a key, that’s fake.
