Memorial Day Stunt Backfires: NJ Gov. Mikie Sherrill Shows Up at Newark ICE Facility and Gets Absolutely Nowhere (Video)
New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill tried to pull a cheap political stunt on Memorial Day and it completely blew up in her face.
The Democrat governor showed up at the ICE detention facility in Newark, apparently hoping for some viral moment grandstanding against immigration enforcement. Instead, the Department of Homeland Security shut her down cold.
DHS made it clear: visitation is currently suspended because of riots happening outside the facility. They called her visit exactly what it was — “nothing more than a political stunt on Memorial Day.”
Here’s the moment she got turned away:
This is peak Democrat hypocrisy. On the day Americans honor the service members who sacrificed everything to protect this country and its laws, Sherrill decided to grandstand at a federal immigration facility. No respect for the holiday, no respect for the men and women enforcing our borders — just another photo-op to pander to the open-borders crowd.
President Trump’s administration isn’t playing these games. They’re actually enforcing the law, securing the border, and doing the job previous administrations refused to do. While Democrats like Sherrill cry about “cruelty,” the American people are seeing the difference: one side wants chaos and open borders, the other wants safety and sovereignty.
The riots outside the facility only prove the point. When you have radical activists and illegal immigrants causing violence, you don’t reward them with more access — you restore order. That’s exactly what DHS is doing.
Sherrill’s stunt backfired because the American public is tired of politicians treating our laws like suggestions and our holidays like political props. Memorial Day is for honoring heroes, not for grandstanding against the people protecting our country.
Trump is delivering the strong leadership voters demanded. The days of weak, performative politics are over. Officials like Sherrill are learning that the hard way.
