Tom Hanks Just Attacked President Trump With An Unprecedented Act Of Defiance (Video)
Back in 2016 when Donald Trump won the presidential election, the two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks said: “We’ll all be OK,” and “I hope the president-elect does such a great job that I vote for his reelection in four years.”
Shortly after the election, Hanks said: “We are going to be all right because we constantly get to tell the world who we are. We constantly get to define ourselves as Americans. We do have the greatest country in the world. We move at a slow pace. We have the greatest country in the world because we are always moving towards a more perfect union.”
But that was then… Now, Hanks changed side.
Two-time Oscar-winner Tom Hanks is opening a new movie this week — The Post, co-starring bajillion time Oscar-winner Meryl Streep — and he was asked by the Hollywood Reporter if he would agree to host a screening in Donald Trump’s White House.
“I don’t think I would,” Hanks said. “Because I think that at some point — look, I didn’t think things were going to be this way last November. I would not have been able to imagine that we would be living in a country where neo-Nazis are doing torchlight parades in Charlottesville and jokes about Pocahontas are being made in front of the Navajo code talkers. And individually we have to decide when we take to the ramparts.”
Also in an interview on Thursday, journalist Howard Kurtz asked the actor, “Do you see parallels between the Nixon panels in this film and the current climate? You’ve talked about President Trump’s insidious campaign against the media and monkeying around with the Constitution?”
Hanks said: “I believe that the Nixon administration at the time did a full frontal assault on the First Amendment by trying to keep, literally trying to stop the press from publishing. I don’t know. You can’t do that and still have the United States of America. I think the current administration and their like-minded allies are waging a guerrilla war on the First Amendment.
“Not quite as overt, but by deluding the job they do in order to establish what the truth is you when you, sort of, raise the legitimacy of those people who are not interested in the truth whatsoever and are putting forth a specific sort of agenda,” he said.
There is this odd tendency among actors to bel to eve they are as smart and well informed as the fictional characters they portray. These Hollywood actors are just so full of themselves that they just ignore what is front of their faces? The only folks I see attacking the First Amendment is the left’s very own shock troops, ANTIFA!
But, just to make it clear Tom…Trump isn’t attacking the First Amendment. He’s attacking the media who have abrogated their duty to report facts impartially. Today’s media members are little more than Leftist activists.
