Trump Administration Ends Special Immigration Protections For 57,000 Honduran Immigrants
On Friday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen announced that more than 50,000 Hondurans will have 20 months to leave the country or face deportation. Nielsen said that conditions there have vastly improved and that the Central American nation can safely accommodate its returning citizens. The status, which had been set to expire July 5, will be extended until January 2020 to give Hondurans time to prepare.
She added that the decision to end TPS for Honduras was made after a review of the conditions that led to the country’s original TPS designation.
“Based on careful consideration of available information, including recommendations received as part of an inter-agency consultation process, the Secretary determined that the disruption of living conditions in Honduras from Hurricane Mitch that served as the basis for its TPS designation has decreased to a degree that it should no longer be regarded as substantial,” Nielsen said.
Two weeks ago, the administration announced 9,000 Nepalese with similar protection must leave. In January, it canceled protection for 200,000 Salvadorans, notifying them to depart by September 2019. Last year, it decided that 45,000 Haitians must leave by July 2019 and 2,500 Nicaraguans must go by January of that year.
The reality is that immigrants come to America for the entitlements only. Land of Opportunity… They could immediately apply for and get on welfare, thanks to the sanctuary cities across America.
Yes, they were ripping off the American Taxpayer in supporting and their many American-born children. Luckily, President Trump, knows we have had enough!
The Trump administration is keeping campaign promises! Moving toward immigration policies that consider the best interests of US citizens first – how refreshing! This is how it is supposed to be. Luckily, President Trump’s priorities, first and foremost, are the people in this country. Our President understands that we Americans come first! Our country’s immigration policies should be designed and implemented to serve, first and foremost, the U.S. national interest.
Thank you so much, President Trump!
