Video: Illegal Immigrant at Anti-Trump Protest Screams She’s ‘Queer and Unashamed’ – White House’s Response Is Something Else

Washington, D.C. – During Saturday’s anti-Trump “Hands Off 2025” protest in Washington, D.C., Greisa Martinez Rosas, an undocumented immigrant and executive director of United We Dream, took the stage to declare, “My name is Greisa Martinez Rosas. I am an immigrant, I am undocumented, unafraid, queer, and unashamed!” The bold statement, broadcast live on C-SPAN, quickly went viral, drawing a sharp and unexpected response from the White House that has conservatives cheering and liberals reeling.

Rosas’ speech, delivered at 10:59 PM PT on April 5, 2025, was part of a nationwide wave of over 1,200 protests against Trump’s policies, including his mass deportation plans and Project 2025. But her public admission of being undocumented backfired spectacularly. The White House’s Rapid Response 47 account fired back with a savage reply on X at 23:34 UTC, posting, “Hi Greisa — We have an app for that. We suggest you check out the new CBP Home App to self-deport. 👇” The post linked to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s retooled app, which now features a “self-deportation” function—a tool the Trump administration rolled out on March 11, 2025, to encourage undocumented immigrants to leave voluntarily before facing harsher consequences.

The White House didn’t stop there. At 00:15 UTC on April 6, they shared a video of recent deportations set to the tune of Semisonic’s “Closing Time” and the chant “Hey, hey, hey goodbye!”—a not-so-subtle message to Rosas and others. “This ain’t 2016, Ms. Rosas,” the caption read. “We’re deporting illegal aliens and posting videos of it.” The clip, showing shackled immigrants being loaded onto planes, has conservatives on X, like @MAGAWarrior22, celebrating: “Love the song choice! Deport her live on TV!” Others, including @PatriotPulse, echoed the sentiment, writing, “She wants to be a martyr, we should oblige her by permanently deporting her.”

Video:

Rosas, who has been open about her undocumented status since her activism began in 2006, leads United We Dream, a youth-led immigrant advocacy group with over one million members. A Times of India report on April 6 noted her role in defending DACA before the Supreme Court in 2020, but also highlighted the fierce backlash she’s now facing. Commenters on X, such as @JarredFishman, demanded her deportation be televised, arguing, “She should be taken into custody Sunday and deported on Monday—make a public example of her arrogance.”

For Trump supporters, the White House’s response is a masterclass in trolling—and a signal that the administration isn’t playing games. With ICE already ramping up operations, as evidenced by the deportation of 17 MS-13 and Tren de Aragua gang members to El Salvador on March 30, Rosas may soon find herself on the wrong side of Trump’s immigration crackdown. “You can bet Rosas will think twice about responding to a knock on her door in the coming days,” wrote @MarauderMag on X. Whether she self-deports or not, one thing is clear: the White House’s clapback has turned her moment of defiance into a viral warning for others.

For Trump supporters, the White House’s response is…a signal that the administration isn’t playing games.” I disagree. I’m a Trump supporter and I think the respons is just more nonsense. DEPORTING HER would be a signal that they aren’t playing games.

Speaking for myself, and perhaps a few others, I am not impressed by cute “responses” or clever “trolling” of these people. Actually, that stuff is starting to piss me off even more.

You want to be believed Mr. President? Arrest these people. You want to be respected? Take action against people who are rebelling. You want to be re-elected (somehow)? Arrest those who have been stealing from us.

Ms. “It’s on my desk” and Mr. “Day One” haven’t arrested any big fish as far as I can tell. I am beginning to expect nothing but token enforcement from them. I see Mr. “Day One” at more ice hockey events than at arrest pressers.

Patriotic notes on X from the President used to be inspiring, but now they are wearing thin because they haven’t been followed up on with action.

I’m a staunch MAGA supporter and I too, am beginning to doubt the veracity of the administration to confront the evil in this government. If they tried to f–king kill me, I’d have heads on sticks on Pennsylvania Avenue by now.
