Democrat Raising Star Megan Barry Resigns as Nashville Mayor Due to Sex Scandal

On Tuesday, Nashville Mayor Megan Barry resigned after pleading guilty to stealing thousands of dollars from the city while carrying on a two-year-long affair with her bodyguard, former Metro Nashville Police Department Sgt. Rob Forrest.

“While my time today as your mayor concludes, my unwavering love and sincere affection for this wonderful city and its great people will never come to an end,” she said at a news conference shortly after she appeared before a judge.

In 2017, Barry and Forrest took nine trips alone together outside of Tennessee, all funded by the city’s taxpayers, to Athens, Greece, San Francisco, California, and Washington, DC, among other places.

In the days subsequent to Barry’s admission of the extramarital affair, numerous damaging stories came to light, and three separate investigations — one by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), another by a special committee of the Nashville Metro City Council, and a third by the Nashville Metro City Council’s Ethical Board of Conduct — were launched.

The 54-year-old Democrat didn’t say how she stole money from the city on the court, but investigators have said they believe she engaged in the affair while she was on city-paid trips and Forrest was on the clock.

Authorities found two nude or partially nude photos of a woman that were taken by Forrest’s phone while he was on duty. The photos were shot last May and October, on days that Barry’s travel schedule shows she was on trips to Washington.

The investigation into the mayor’s affair came as the national outcry to call out sexual misconduct led to high-profile resignations from prominent elected officials and executives. Barry has said she doesn’t want the affair to muddy the “Me Too” women’s movement since her affair was about middle-aged, consenting adults who had feelings for each other.

The mayor agreed to reimburse the city $11,000. Both Barry and Forrest were sentenced to three years of probation.

Anyone surprised except for the fact she was caught with her hand in the people’s cookie jar? Another scam artist they wanted to be the rising start for the left wing takers.

Two families ruined, two careers wrecked all for what? This is yet another example of liberal’s operating under the lowest common denominator of self-gratification.
