After Putin Denied That His Troops Are Shooting Civilians, They Were Caught On Video As They, Open Fire On Father And Son Trying To Escape Kyiv – The Father Died

While Russian forces continue to unleash violence across Ukraina, the heartbreaking video of a son begging for his father’s life has left the world shocked. A Ukrainian civilian says Russian troops opened fire on his vehicle, killing his father as they were evacuating from the town of Ivankiv in the Kyiv region.

While fleeing home with their three dogs, the footage shows a middle-aged father and his adult son being shot at by Russian tanks. The father, who has been identified as Oleh Bulavenko, eventually succumbed to his injuries as he lay in a pool of blood in the middle of the road.

Bulаvenko’s son used his phone to record the video while they were in the cаr. When they cаme аcross а Russiаn militаry convoy on the side of the roаd, they were forced to pull over.

After they stop and as he is asking his father to reverse, and with the army a considerable distance away, bullets tear into the vehicle.

“Get out and lie down. Can you hear me? Get back and duck to the right,” Bulavenko’s son shouts at him while trying to find a safe hiding spot for himself. Meanwhile, the troops continue to fire more rounds into the car as the dogs whimpered in fear and pain in the background.

The son, whose passenger door is closest to shelter, jumps out into undergrowth but his father must exit into the road. Dozens more shots ring out before the son crawls round the back of the car to find his father lying prone in the road.

The son can be heard yelling, “Dad! Dad! Are you still there? Hang in there!”

“Dad, f***! Why?” he exclaims, while his father informed him that his foot was torn off. As the shooting slows down, the son manages to drag his father into the undergrowth on the side of the road. All the while, he can be heard begging for his father to “not die”. “Please don’t die, I’m begging you,” Bulavenko’s son says in the heart-wrenching video.

But moments later his father died from his injuries, lying in the ditch he was dragged into. The sole surviving dog refused the leave Bulavenko’s body after the shooting.

The Russian leader yesterday delivered an address claiming ‘gangster’ Ukrainian leaders using ‘human shields’ was the real reason so many civilians had been killed by his troops’ onslaught in the country.

RFE/RL has verified that no Ukrainian troops were in the area at the time of the shooting.
