The former NRA instructor Stephen Willeford shot at and pursued the gunman responsible for the Sutherland Springs church massacre. Who knows how many more would have been killed if he wasn’t there!! Willeford who lives near First Baptist Church where gunman Devin Kelley killed 26 people, finally broke his silence and said what happened on that fateful day.
Willeford said he grabbed his AR-15 and ran, shoe-less, to stop the murder after his daughter burst into the house and told him of the ongoing shooting.
Willeford said: “I kept hearing the shots, one after another, very rapid shots – just ‘pop pop pop pop’ and I knew every one of those shots represented someone, that it was aimed at someone, that they weren’t just random shots.”
He continued: “He saw me and I saw him. I was standing behind a pickup truck for cover. I know I hit him. He got into his vehicle, and he fired another couple rounds through his side window. When the window dropped, I fired another round at him again.”
Willeford’s cousin, Ken Leonard, went on CNN to share his story.
“Stephen went into his safe, grabbed his AR…grabbed a handful of ammo and a magazine, and was running barefooted toward the shooting,” Leonard said. “[Stephen] said he was loading the magazine as fast as he could, he didn’t even know how many rounds he had put in the magazine.”
When Stephen arrived at the scene, he noticed Kelley was reloading and was wearing body armor.
“That’s where he shot him the first time,” Leonard said. “The man dropped the weapon when he was shot and went and forced his way into an SUV and he pushed him into the passenger side.”
“As he was doing that, Stephen shot him again in the neck….and that’s when Stephen shot him a third time in the neck again,” he continued.
Thank you Willeford for your brave response. He appears very humble and credits God for his protection and ability to take this evil out!!! Yes he saved lives and made a huge difference.. In my book he is a hero!!
After the Las Vegas massacre, Hillary Clinton said: “Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get.”
Now, imagine the deaths if the NRA instructor didn’t have an AR-15, which the Democrats wants to make harder to get. So, Amen to a brave and wonderful person! That man is indeed a hero. Thank God he had a weapon!
