I don’t think anyone has had to deal with so much BS from the media like White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders…and I must admit, she handles it very well. Watching her in action is beyond delightful. She makes me smile on several levels!
During Monday’s press briefing, Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders pushed back after reporters repeatedly asked her about President Donald Trump’s stance on gun control.
Via IJR Red: “Sanders said Trump was focused on solutions that are known to have “broad bi-partisan support,” but was reviewing if raising the age limit to purchase certain firearms could be done at a federal level.
“The president, as you know, doesn’t have the ability to just create federal law and he would need a number of other individuals to come together to make that happen,” she said.
Sanders clarified to another reporter that Trump hasn’t “backed away” from increasing the age limit or policies that may anger the National Rifle Association (NRA). She also repeated that as president, he’s not able to “make them happen with a broad stroke of the pen.”
“I guess I don’t know how many times I can explain the same thing,” she told reporters after she continuously faced questions about increasing the age limit. “The president still supports this. That’s why it’s in his plan and he’s looking at and reviewing the best path forward to try to get it through.”
The press secretary explained that in the meantime, Trump is reviewing solutions that can be implemented immediately instead of holding all progress up for one piece of the puzzle.
“That actually seems smart and it seems like bold leadership to me to push through on things that help protect kids while not ignoring some other policies that the president supports, which we’re doing,” she declared.
Sanders later called out the press for continuing to “misunderstand and misrepresent” her comments and reiterated that the president is looking at both immediate and future solutions.
Sanders also shared with the White House press corps that they should receive the president’s proposal for gun control and school safety on Monday.”
These press conferences are a snoozefest when it comes to the media and their questions. 6 times they asked the same question, 6 times she answered the same question. Yet they kept making the same damn statement as if they didn’t hear a word she said… and then asked the same question again.
They were to get a brief on what the rest of Trump’s gun control package. Some things they can get passed now, even with the Dems voting for it. They want to get done whatever they can get passed immediately. The Dems are the hold-up, but then they claim Trump isn’t getting anything done.
