Inside the Notorious Jail in a ‘Third World Country’ Where Trump and 18 Co-Defendants in Georgia Racketeering Case Are Expected to Be Booked

Donald Trump is due to be arraigned for the fourth time this year as he faces charges in Georgia as part of an expansive 2020 election interference investigation.

The former president and 18 other defendants, including former White House chief of Staff Mark Meadows and Trump’s former personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, were charged with a total of 41 offenses under Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ sprawling and long-running probe.

Trump is accused of 13 offenses, including charges under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, conspiracy to commit forgery, and solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer.

So Trump could easily arrange to appear at the Fulton County courthouse the day of the debate, ensuring that all eyes will be on him instead of his opponents.

“That’d be smart,” one former Trump campaign aide, speaking anonymously, told NBC.

Besides, “there’s no reason he should debate,” the aide said, referring to Trump’s massive lead over the other candidates. (Trump should, of course, have to participate in the debate and explain his policy ideas to voters.)

Whatever happens with this witch hunt one thing is for sure the prison he will be booked in looks like a third-world country jail!

Yahoo News reported that Lashawn Thompson, 35, died on Sept. 13, 2022, at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, where he was found in a cell “eaten alive” by bedbugs and other insects, according to his family.

Thompson, who suffered from schizophrenia, was held in the jail’s psychiatric wing. He was arrested on June 12, 2022, for misdemeanor simple battery, according to the police report.

The family received Thompson’s body last year but couldn’t get answers from law enforcement officials as to why it was covered with gruesome scars and sores, some of which appeared to have been caused by an infestation of bugs.

Photos of Thompson’s body and his cell at the jail have sparked outrage and garnered international attention. “He was found on the floor of the jail infested with bedbugs and lice,” Harper explained. “He was neglected. He lost a lot of weight. He was dehydrated. It was just a horrible, awful death due to negligence.”

Gerald Griggs, an Atlanta attorney and president of the Georgia state conference of the NAACP, says the photos of Thompson shocked the world. “The cell looked like something out of a horror movie,” he told Yahoo News.

The jail is overcrowded, and 30% of those in custody are held because they are unable to pay a bond of $15,000 or less. Thompson’s bail was set at $2,500.

Thompson died three months after being booked into the Atlanta facility, which is one of the largest jails in the country and holds pretrial detainees.

Trump who is the frontrunner in the 2024 GOP presidential primary has denied all the allegations against him, and accused Willis of “election interference” and her probe of being a politically motivated “witch hunt.”
