Flashback! Trump’s DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen Confirms They Are Preparing To Arrest Sanctuary City Leaders

The sanctuary cities are a disgrace to the country! The full force of the DOJ should come down on them and cut off all federal funds to cities and states that want their own definition of ”following the law.” State officials who encourage these law breaking people to come to the state should be held accountable for violating their oath of office.

Today DHS secretary Kistjen Nielsen disappointed all of us!

But we all remember the good news from a few months back when DHS announced that they will arrest sanctuary cities leaders!

Via The Daily Wire: “Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen told the Senate Judiciary Committee that she would be asking the Department of Justice to look into prosecuting officials in sanctuary cities. “The Department of Justice is reviewing what avenues may be available,” Ms. Nielsen told the Senate Judiciary Committee. President Trump has already threatened to withhold funding from sanctuary cities.

This strategy could actually bear legal fruit, according to Jessica Vaughan of the Center for Immigration Studies. She told The Daily Caller that, “a criminal case against a sanctuary official or government is possible, although probably as a last resort after they have exhausted other options, and when the facts of the case are particularly egregious or concerning.” The governing statutes are typically used to prosecute human traffickers who hide illegal immigrants from federal detention; that law could theoretically be applied against local officials who refuse to detain illegal immigrants after a request from the federal government.”

Her confirmation came after California’s new sanctuary law went into effect Jan. 1, severely restricting cooperation the state or any of its localities could offer.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan says those policies put his officers and local communities at more risk because they have to arrest illegal immigrants out in the community.

Well, today the Hill reported that so-called “sanctuary cities” are reportedly among the states and localities awarded $1.7 billion in grants by President Trump’s homeland security secretary.

Three unidentified sources told McClatchy that multiple sanctuary cities were awarded grants, a move that goes against Trump’s repeated promises to cut off funding to those cities, which offer protections to undocumented immigrants and refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.

The article goes on to state the following:

McClatchy reported that Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen approved the grants, defying objections from other top agency officials.

“This is typical of Nielsen,” one source told McClatchy. “She is known for deliberately ignoring warnings that her decisions are not in keeping with the president’s agenda, but that she proceeds forcefully and simply misrepresents what she is doing.”

The report comes after reports of clashes between Trump and Nielsen. Trump, for example, reportedly berated her in front of other Cabinet officials, prompting her to nearly resign.

She needs to leave after this!

Sanctuary Cities needs to be put out of commission. They are outside the rule of Law and those officials making them possible should be rounded up and arrested. Shut down sanctuary cities and charge government, state and local officials who harbor illegals and turn a blind eye to the laws on illegal immigrants.
