The first common sense statement I have seen from Democrats in a while… o it’s about time we talk about the real issues that cause these tragic things!
On Sunday, Sen. Dianne Feinstein said she was “not sure” there were any “set of laws” that could have prevented the tragedy during NBC’s “Meet The Press.”
Discussing the Las Vegas shooting, a California Democrat and staunch gun control advocate Feinstein told host Chuck Todd that the images of innocent deaths in Las Vegas should spur people to action in enacting gun control laws.
After Todd asked her to give him the slate of laws that if you could wave your wand and have enacted that could have prevented Vegas, Feinstein answered:
“Well, I don’t know. I would have to take a good look at that and really study it. I’m not sure there is any set of laws that could have prevented it. I do know this, that we have the Second Amendment. There’s been a difference over its interpretation by the court, the high court. None the less the high court has held, and possession of firearms is legal under the Second Amendment. Now, possession of machine guns is not legal under the Second Amendment. The National Firearms Act said they were not legal. Ergo, now you have people with American inventiveness inventing something that can be added, an additive that boosts the firing rate to that of a machine gun. And that’s what every American saw coming out of those hotel windows.”
She is correct. Glad to see someone in the Establishment is being logical about this whole thing. Everytime something like this happens, a herd of politicians rushes in to propose some new law or ban something else. The real cause of these things has always been a darkness in the hearts of some individuals. You can’t legislate anything to prevent that, unfortunately. They will always find a way to get their evil hands on some weapon or explosive device. Staying alert to warning signs is the best deterrent.
