The Only Cabinet Member In U.S. History To Be Held In Contempt Of Congress Is Considering Run For the Presidency

Former Attorney General and Barack Obama buddy Eric Holder told an audience at a Washington, D.C., breakfast Wednesday morning hosted by the Christian Science Monitor that he hasn’t ruled out an attempt to unseat President Donald Trump in 2020.

“We’ll see,” he said when asked about a bid for the Democratic nomination.

The NDRC, or National Democratic Redistricting Committee, is a Holder-led effort focused on redistricting reform.

Former President Barack Obama’s attorney general has for many years caught the ire of conservatives for his time in the White House. Recently, President Donald Trump, who has long criticized Holder, told The New York Times the former attorney general “totally protected” Obama while serving, adding that he had “great respect for that.”

“I don’t want to get into loyalty, but I will tell you that, I will say this: Holder protected President Obama. Totally protected him,” Trump said, adding: “When you look at the things that they did, and Holder protected the president. And I have great respect for that, I’ll be honest.”

Holder, who was attorney general from 2009-2015 and handled several controversial cases for the former president, is running Obama’s group aimed at redrawing “fair” congressional district lines, the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.

He plans to tour the nation making the case for changing House district lines. His group is focusing on about 20 states.

Holder, who remains very close to Obama, also assailed Trump for pardoning former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, hit several decisions by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and defended the IRS, FBI, Justice Department, and Russia probe investigator Robert Mueller.

Do you think that he will lose if he runs for President in 2020?
