JD Vance Delivers Masterful Response After Pope Criticizes ‘Narrative’ Surrounding Trump and Vance
Vice President JD Vance just gave one of the most classy, level-headed responses you’ll see from any politician.
After Pope Leo pushed back against the media’s manufactured drama, saying outlets had been pushing “a certain narrative that has not been accurate in all its aspects,” Vance welcomed the clarification and cut straight through the noise.
“I am grateful to Pope Leo for saying this,” Vance posted. “While the media narrative constantly gins up conflict – and yes, real disagreements have happened and will happen – the reality is often much more complicated.”
He continued:
“Pope Leo preaches the gospel, as he should, and that will inevitably mean he offers his opinions on the moral issues of the day. The President – and the entire administration – work to apply those moral principles in a messy world. He will be in our prayers, and I hope that we’ll be in his.”

The Pope had been addressing serious issues in Cameroon — corruption, tyranny, and the need to break “the chains of corruption” under President Paul Biya — but much of the media twisted his words into an attack on Trump and Vance, especially after the U.S. military action in Iran and border policies.
Woe to those who manipulate religion and the very name of God for their own military, economic, and political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth. #ApostolicJourney #Cameroon https://t.co/bKteFZ3iWE

Pope Leo made it clear his Cameroon remarks were prepared weeks earlier and had nothing to do with “debating the president,” which was “not my interest at all.” The media simply couldn’t resist injecting Trump into the story anyway.
Vance’s response is exactly right. He acknowledges that policy disagreements between the Church and the administration are possible and even expected, but he refuses to let the media turn them into fake outrage. Instead, he shows maturity, respect for the Pope’s role, and a clear understanding that governing in the real world is complicated.
This is leadership: call out the media spin without descending into pointless fighting. The Pope preaches moral principles; the Trump administration has to apply them while protecting American lives and national security. As Border Czar Tom Homan has pointed out, the Vatican may not have all the facts on immigration enforcement and how it actually saves lives.
Vance handled this perfectly. While the media tried to stir up conflict, he chose clarity and grace. That’s how you win the long game.

The pope doesn’t even know the gospel, let alone preaches it.
F the woke pope, the phoniest pope in history that took bribes from an Obama flunkie.
Well done, Mr Vice President.
Again.
