One of the benefits of being President is you will enjoy some of the best hospitality the world has to offer. State visits are full of pomp and circumstance, especially when those state visits are to Britain.
During state visits, the British put their Royal family to good use, entertaining world leaders and their families in the splendor of Buckingham Palace with lavish banquets. Some leaders have even been treated to a more personal visit with the Queen at her private residence in Balmoral, Scotland.
The Obamas got this and they were given a status of semi-gods in Britain by the Royal family especially by Prince Harry who become a really good friend with our former President!
It was expected that Obama and his family would be invited to the Royal wedding and President Trump will not be invited!
Well, the things have turned around and now it seems that Obamas won’t be getting an invite to the Royal wedding!
According to royal biographer Duncan Larcombe, it’s extremely unlikely that the Obamas will get an invite as the couple will heed the advice of the Foreign Office not to do anything to upset diplomatic ties with the US.
Reports have suggested that the Foreign Office is nervous about upsetting current president Donald Trump, who has still not visited the UK in an official capacity or met the Queen.
Additionally, the royal family is supposed to remain neutral and above politics and no foreign heads of state were invited to Kate and William’s wedding in 2011.
‘There were religious leaders, members of the royal family, and Commonwealth countries that were invited, ‘he told townandcountry.com.
‘I suspect that will be the same blueprint that Meghan and Harry will use. ‘It’s all very carefully orchestrated to make sure that there are no political overtones.’
President Trump’s official visit to the United Kingdom has been delayed, most likely in order to protect President Trump from the expected massive protests upon his arrival in the UK.
What do you think will this behavior by the Royal family affect U.S. relationship with the U.K.?
