Donald And Melania Just Arrived In Hawaii – Look What’s The First Thing They Did!
The president and first lady landed in Hawaii on Friday afternoon for a one-day stopover that’s caused significant gridlock throughout the urban core and is severely limiting access to the state’s no. 1 tourist destination.
The first couple landed at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam about 1:10 p.m. Friday.
After stepping off Air Force One, hand-in-hand with First Lady Melania Trump, the president received a maile lei and the first couple was greeted by Gov. David Ige, U.S Pacific Command Adm. Harry Harris, and other dignitaries.
Trump then shook hands and posed for photos with members of the military and their families who had gathered to meet him.
While the first lady headed to Waikiki, the president went to Camp Smith for a meeting with PACOM leaders.
“I tell you, this is very special being in Hawaii,” the president said, according to a pool report. The president also expressed excitement about the prospect of visiting Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial later in the afternoon.
He said he’s “read about, spoken about, heard about, studied, but I haven’t seen” Pearl Harbor.
He also took it to Twitter to reveal that he was looking forward to “meeting with our great military/veterans at Pearl Harbor.”
