CPAC Photos Reveal What Happened to the Movement After Principles Were Replaced by Podcasts and Promo Codes
CPAC used to be the marquee event of the conservative year — a serious gathering built on principles, strategy, and a clear mission to advance the America First agenda. This year’s photos tell a different story: half-empty rooms, sleepy attendees, and moments that feel more like a struggling podcast convention than a political powerhouse.
A Mirror US reporter captured the scene during a Friday session where CPAC rolled out its midterm endorsements. Hundreds of seats sat vacant, including large sections in the press area. Estimates put attendance at around 200 people, with dozens of chairs left empty. The atmosphere was described as flat, with at least one older man dozing off in the crowd and a woman at the reporters’ table appearing to nod off at her desk.

The low energy became impossible to ignore when CPAC chairman Matt Schlapp asked the audience if they wanted to see impeachment hearings. The crowd erupted in loud cheers. Schlapp looked stunned, quickly backpedaled with “No… that was the wrong answer,” and tried the question again. The second response was quieter, but the damage was done. Other speakers laughed awkwardly while Schlapp gestured for staff to bring coffee, as if the room needed a jolt to stay awake.
Other moments added to the surreal vibe. MAGA YouTuber Benny Johnson delivered a fiery call to “outbreed the left” by having more children. Mike Lindell was served legal papers live during a television interview. And one speaker referred to President Trump as a “son of a bitch” before the next speaker tried to clean it up, saying “He’s our son of a bitch.”
These scenes paint a picture of a movement that once stood for bold ideas now dominated by influencers, merchandise tables, and promo codes. The serious policy discussions and grassroots energy that defined earlier CPACs have given way to something that feels more commercial and less substantive.
The photos don’t lie. Empty seats and nodding heads aren’t the sign of a surging movement — they’re the sign of one that traded principles for podcasts and lost its way in the process.

Mark Van der Veen offers some of the most analytical and insightful writings on politics. He regularly opines on the motives and political calculations of politicians and candidates, and whether or not their strategy will work. Van der Veen offers a contrast to many on this list by sticking mainly to a fact-based style of writing that is generally combative with opposing ideologies.

This could be a sign that people are tired of politicians and their nonstop lies, the R party is just as evil and useless as the D party.
This could also be a lie, carefully twisted by one with an agenda to weaken the conservative movement.
This could be both. Sadly, you can’t believe a word of anything you hear anymore because the so called ‘reporters’ and ‘journalists’ will flat out lie to your face and what they can’t fake with false words, they’ll use AI to make false pictures to deceive you.
There is no more NEWS anymore, just curated lies and twisted deceptions.
how badly the west has fallen, and the worst part, when you bring it up, their reply.
oh you think?? here, hold my beer!
I, like millions of other MAGA citizens, participated in CPAC by digital transmission. Democrats make travel expensive and burdensome and dangerous. There is zero doubt that the performance of the Republican Party since the Bush regime took power is disappointing to say the least, and it is empowering the evil that is the Democrat Party.
I was “done” LONG BEFORE even newty newt stabbed us IN the back with the internet in 1994….(look THAT up)
No. MAGA is just a Trumpian brand to sell the non globalist types to get elected only to turn 180 and kill his most trusted allies for some silver flashed by his rivals and a promise of gold
