BBC Surprised in Dearborn as Voters Voice Strong Preference for Trump Over Kamala (Video)

In a packed Lebanese restaurant near Detroit, tables were filled with platters of za’atar bread and labneh as Kamala Harris’s campaign staffers met with Arab American leaders. What unfolded, however, was a candid rejection of the Biden-Harris administration by a key Democratic demographic, with community members voicing their disapproval over U.S. policy on the Gaza conflict. The conversation was led by Nabih H. Ayad, chairman of the Arab American Civil Rights League, who expressed deep disappointment in the administration’s handling of the crisis. “The one line we can’t cross,” Ayad said, “is genocide.”

Representatives Nasrina Bargzie and Brenda Abdelal, who handle Arab and Muslim outreach for Harris’s campaign, reportedly listened closely but offered little response to concerns raised. As election day nears, these sentiments are seen as an alarming shift for Democrats, who previously dominated Dearborn—home to the nation’s largest concentration of Arab Americans. In 2020, Dearborn residents overwhelmingly supported Joe Biden. Now, many in the community are turning toward Trump, citing his record on peace in the Middle East.

Dearborn will vote for Trump:

A video capturing the moment reveals the shock of BBC journalists at the shift, as more locals openly shared their views, noting that Trump’s approach seems more in line with their calls for stability and peace.

The video was taken in Dearborn, Michigan.

As Harris’s Michigan campaign enters its final stretch, the question remains whether she can reclaim lost ground in this key battleground area.
