Video: Texas Dad Shows Carjacker Exactly What FAFO Means When Thug Tries to Steal Car With His Whole Family Still Inside
Texas Dad Unloads 10+ Rounds Into Carjacker Who Tried to Steal Car Full of His Kids – “Textbook Self-Defense,” Say Police
In a raw, split-second act of pure paternal instinct, a Texas father protected his entire family from a violent carjacker by emptying his firearm into the thug who had just forced his way into their vehicle. The surveillance video from Garland, Texas, is now going viral, and it delivers one unmistakable message: Don’t mess with a man whose wife and children are in the car.
The incident exploded around 3:30 p.m. Monday at a gas station in Garland, about 18 miles outside downtown Dallas. The suspect — a Hispanic male whose name has not been released — had already caused chaos. He barreled into two vehicles on Highway 66, then fled to the gas station where he began trying to steal multiple cars. Surveillance footage shows him in a peach shirt, brazenly breaking into vehicles before setting his sights on a white Chevrolet Impala occupied by a father, two adult females, multiple children, and a baby.
The carjacker aggressively bumped into the armed father, muscled past him during a struggle, and climbed into the driver’s seat of the Impala — with the family still inside. As he attempted to start the car and drive off with everyone’s children, the father drew his handgun and opened fire, striking the suspect at least ten times. The carjacker was rushed to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Thankfully, the father and every member of his family escaped unharmed.
Video from the incident:
Garland Police Lt. Pedro Barineau described the shooting as a textbook case of self-defense:
“That driver was defending himself and was fighting with that suspect. The car was occupied by several children as well as two other female adults.”
The father remained on scene, cooperated fully with investigators, and voluntarily handed over his firearm. As of now, no charges are expected to be filed against him.
A local resident, Taylor Standfield, who witnessed the aftermath, put it perfectly:
“I have three kids. I’m gonna do whatever it takes to keep them safe. That kind of stuff is split-second… It’s hard to imagine what it’s even like being in that situation with the adrenaline and knowing that you have kids in your vehicle.”
This is the very definition of a “perfect 2A moment.” A law-abiding father exercising his constitutional right to bear arms didn’t just stop a carjacking — he stopped a man who was willing to kidnap or harm an entire family. In Texas, the law still recognizes that the right to self-defense doesn’t disappear just because you have children in the car. It becomes even more justified.
As Amy Swearer of the Heritage Foundation has noted, the Second Amendment is rooted in “the natural, immutable right to defend oneself and one’s liberties from crime and tyranny.” This Texas dad lived that truth. Faced with an immediate, deadly threat to his wife and children, he didn’t freeze, he didn’t wait for police — he acted decisively. And because he was armed, his family is alive and unharmed today.
Stories like this are why Americans continue to reject gun control arguments. Criminals don’t obey laws, but responsible citizens do. When seconds count, police are minutes away — especially when a violent repeat offender is already on a rampage. The father’s preparedness turned a potential nightmare into justice served.
This incident should serve as a warning to every would-be carjacker in America: Some dads don’t play games when their children are in danger. In Texas, they carry guns — and they know how to use them.
FAFO, indeed.
