BREAKING: Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth Responds to Atlantic Story – And It Ends Exactly as You’d Expect (Video)

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth just shut down a bombshell Atlantic story with the fiery precision Trump supporters expected, landing a blow against the left’s media machine while on a critical Indo-Pacific tour. On Monday, Hegseth arrived in Hawaii to meet U.S. Indo-Pacific Command leaders and troops, traveling to Guam, the Philippines, and Japan to re-establish deterrence, as he told the press corps on the tarmac. “We’re out here to talk to our commanders and most importantly, to meet with the troops all across the Indo-Pacific, and our allies and partners too,” Hegseth said, emphasizing the trip’s “critical importance.”

But the press zeroed in on The Atlantic’s explosive report by editor Jeffrey Goldberg, who claimed he was accidentally added to a Signal group chat with Hegseth, Vice President JD Vance, and Trump’s national security team, revealing classified Houthi bombing plans in Yemen.

A White House National Security Council spokesperson confirmed the chat’s authenticity, saying, “We are reviewing how an inadvertent number was added to the chain,” but insisted it showed “deep and thoughtful policy coordination” with no threat to troops, per The Washington Post. When asked, “Can you share how your information about war plans against the Houthis in Yemen was shared with a journalist in The Atlantic, and were those details classified?” Hegseth didn’t mince words, torching Goldberg’s credibility in a video shared by @DODResponse on X:

“You’re talking about a deceitful and highly discredited so-called journalist who has made a profession of peddling hoaxes time and time again,” Hegseth fired back, citing Goldberg’s history with the “Russia, Russia, Russia,” “fine people on both sides,” and “suckers and losers” narratives. He pivoted to the Houthi campaign’s success: “We’ve been managing four years of deferred maintenance… Our sailors were getting shot at—President Trump said, ‘No More.’ We will re-establish deterrence… and we will ultimately decimate the Houthis. Which is what we did.” When pressed again—“Why were those details shared on Signal and how did you learn that a journalist was privy to that information?”—Hegseth denied any war plans were texted, shutting down the line of questioning.

President Trump, in an afternoon press conference, backed Hegseth, saying he didn’t know about the story and slamming The Atlantic’s reputation,:
