Video: Trump Summit Underway – NATO Chief Admits They’re Bending the Knee, and the Look on POTUS’s Face Says It All
A video from the NATO summit in The Hague captures a pivotal moment as NATO Secretary General admits that allies are “bending the knee” to President Donald Trump’s demands, a concession that’s reflected in Trump’s unmistakable expression of satisfaction.
The footage shows NATO Secretary General, addressing the summit with a tone of acknowledgment. “For too long, one ally, the United States, carried too much of the burden of that commitment — and that changes today. President Trump — dear Donald — you made this change possible… we will produce trillions more for our common defense to make us stronger and fairer by equalizing spending between America and America’s allies,” he states, his words a clear capitulation to Trump’s pressure.
Did you catch the look on his face:

Social media reactions range from celebration to critique, with users debating the implications of this shift. This isn’t just about defense spending—it’s about a presidency asserting its power. The video, with its millions of views, is a cultural touchstone, a moment that captures the divide between leadership and followership. For Trump, it’s a moment of vindication; for NATO, it’s a new reality.

Mark Van der Veen offers some of the most analytical and insightful writings on politics. He regularly opines on the motives and political calculations of politicians and candidates, and whether or not their strategy will work. Van der Veen offers a contrast to many on this list by sticking mainly to a fact-based style of writing that is generally combative with opposing ideologies.

What’s with this bending a knee crap. I’d like to think that they see the wisdom in actually doing what they agreed to do when they signed on. Many countries just took advantage of the US generosity. President Trump pointed that out in his first term. I’m sure they were embarrassed as a country to have been on the list. So now, Asa group they decided to raise the bar for their own defense. should have happened long ago.
NATO is going to sign contracts to purchase US weapons they will not man. Then before those weapons are delivered and after Trump is gone, the contracts will be cancelled. The unmanned weapons will be stored in warehouses and things will go right back to business as usual!
American’s paying for the whole ride, while barred from riding!
