What We’ve ALL Been Waiting For… Lawmaker Demands Investigation of Obama’s Connection With Hezbollah

In a bombshell report by Josh Meyer from Politico, it was revealed how the Obama administration gave a free pass to Hezbollah’s terrorism, movement into Syria, drug-trafficking, and money-laundering operations — some of which were unfolding inside the U.S. — to help ensure the Iran nuclear deal.

The report detailed how the Obama administration not only refused to pursue the criminal activity but how the administration’s actions and inaction allowed Hezbollah to grow, move into Syria to help Assad and create powerful conspiracy connections in South America with anti-American governments like Venezuela, while becoming a huge transnational criminal organization helping to fund their terrorism.

According to the report, the Obama administration even colluded with Russia to release Ali Fayad, “a suspected top Hezbollah operative,” so that it could continue pursuing the Iran deal. Fayad was captured in 2014 and was indicted for “planning the murders of U.S. government employees,” but nothing was done under President Barack Obama’s leadership.

Now, because of these shocking revelations, the chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare and also vice chairman of the Bipartisan Task Force to Investigate Terrorism Financing, Rep. Robert Pittenger (R-NC) jumped in and called for an investigation into the Obama administration’s interference with the investigation into “Hezbollah’s illegal drug dealing, money laundering and arms running.”

In a statement, Pittinger said: “Now, it appears in order to secure his deeply flawed Iran Deal, President Obama and his administration shielded the Iran-backed terror group Hezbollah from a major US multi-agency investigation targeting Hezbollah’s global criminal operation which included drug dealing, money laundering and arms running.

These revelations are shocking and infuriating. While American soldiers were bravely fighting ISIS terrorists, with some paying the ultimate price, the Obama administration reportedly was protecting Hezbollah terrorists who were funding themselves by trafficking illegal drugs. No wonder President Obama couldn’t bring himself to call them “Radical Islamist Terrorists.”

This is the same administration that sent $1.7 billion in cash ransom to Iran. The growing nexus between terrorist organizations and Latin American drug cartels poses a grave threat to our national security, especially considering the porous state of our southern border. Last month, I hosted a forum in Buenos Aires for 220 Members of Parliament and government officials from 15 South American countries with government and private sector experts to address the critical challenge of intercepting drug related funding of terrorism.

After explaining the severity of the issue at hand, Pittenger stated the following in the letter, Pittenger demanded the panel hold open hearings into reported efforts to undermine the Drug Enforcement Agency’s operation into Hezbollah’s narcotics trafficking and other illicit activities linked to its drug ties.

Known as “Project Cassandra,” the DEA operation was reportedly “successful in mapping Hezbollah’s criminal operations in Latin America, West Africa, the Middle East and the United States,” Mr. Pittinger wrote in a letter to House panel chairman Rep. Trey Gowdy, a South Carolina Republican.

The Project Cassandra investigation “threatened to undermine the Obama administration’s nuclear talks with Iran,” Pittinger wrote in the letter.

“The previous administration was complicit in allowing Hezbollah … to fund terrorist activities and harm American interests and our allies,” he said, adding “this undermines both the rule of law and law enforcement’s efforts” to stem the flow of illicit narcotics and disrupt terrorist financing.

In the letter, which was sent to Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Pittinger wrote: “I respectfully request that the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform:

Investigate this matter with haste;
Hold hearings on this matter open to the public; and
Make public any documents that are not classified for national security reasons.

Due to the severity of this matter and my engagement on these issues with our Latin American partners, I am happy to testify in front of your subcommittee to offer any expertise. Thank you again for your consideration.”

About time for this to happen! We have all had enough of his treason! Let’s get it out in the open and get him arrested and put in prison.
In my opinion, the entire Obama administration needs to be investigated. We already know the state department and DOJ were corrupt.
