Separated Migrant Families Are Suing The Trump Administration To Cover The Costs Of Their Mental Health Treatment

This week, migrant families who were separated at the U.S.–Mexico border under the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy sued the Trump administration demanding it to cover the costs of their mental health treatment because as the lawsuit argues, the migrant children and their families suffered trauma that was “life-altering.”

Though Mr. Trump signed an executive order last week declaring that families would no longer be separated upon illegal entry into the US, the lawsuit stated the trauma they reportedly suffer will “continue to affect their mental and emotional well-being for years to come” as a result of being separated.

The lawsuit also seeks unspecified financial compensation for the families affected by the now-reversed policy.

Parents who were separated from their children earlier this year under the Trump administration’s policy say they are suffering deep emotional wounds as a result of the separations. Families say they want the Trump administration to remedy the situation by paying for their mental health treatment.

I wonder when we should pay for their costs? Before or after we charge them with criminal trespass? In fact, America should charge them for housing and feeding them, their families and all the transportation included in their illegal voyage across the border entering The United States.

This is stupid. They invaded our country illegally but want us to pay them for breaking our laws. In fact, we should be talking about compensating families of victims of illegal alien crime, or the border patrol agents who risk their lives keeping the United States safe.

I think Congress needs to do it’s job and get an immigration policy passed while they still have a Republican majority. Because if things keep going the way they are, these worthless Republicans may find themselves out of a “job” come mid-terms.
