Pope Francis Makes Shocking Statement About Trump’s Jerusalem Decision In His Christmas Message
Speaking in St. Peter’s Square in Rome for his annual Christmas address, Pope Francis indirectly criticised Trump over his decision last week to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Pope Francis used his Christmas address to reiterate the Vatican’s long-standing support for a two-state solution to the conflict.
Pope Francis said: “We see Jesus in the children of the Middle East who continue to suffer because of growing tensions between Israelis and Palestinians. On this festive day, let us ask the Lord for peace for Jerusalem and for all the Holy Land.”
“Let us pray that the will to resume dialogue may prevail between the parties and that a negotiated solution can finally be reached, one that would allow the peaceful coexistence of two States within mutually agreed and internationally recognized borders,” said Francis on Monday morning in the Vatican.
It is sad for this man to show his hatred for Trump- I am sure he has lost the respect of many people over his words, which have no place in any of his public comments. He has not understood that the president has left the door opened for négociations, had changed nothing except follow the American law and moved the embassy to Jerusalem.
Pope Francis added: “May the Lord also sustain the efforts of all those in the international community inspired by goodwill to help that afflicted land to find, despite grave obstacles, the harmony, justice and security that it has long awaited.”
“We see Jesus in the faces of Syrian children still marked by the war that, in these years, has caused such bloodshed in that country. May beloved Syria at last recover respect for the dignity of every person through a shared commitment to rebuild the fabric of society, without regard for ethnic and religious membership,” said Pope Francis.
With all due respect to the Pope, I suggest that he leaves matters of state, especially in a region in which the Catholic church has few followers, to the people of the region. After all, he is a Pope, not a politician!
With regard to President Trump’s declaration of recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Trump, of course, simply stated what reality is, has been and will continue to be: the fact that Jerusalem is, has been and will continue to be the political, cultural and spiritual capital of the Jewish people and this people’s liberal-democratic and sovereign nation-state of the Jewish people, the State of Israel.
