Lt. Col. Oliver North who served 22 years as a Marine and was part of the National Security Council staff during the Reagan administration and later called on Bill Clinton to resign is set to become the president of the National Rifle Association of America, a process the NRA Board of Directors initiated Monday.

North will assume the presidency in the coming weeks and has retired from Fox News, where he was a commentator, effective immediately.
“I am honored to have been selected by the NRA Board to soon serve as this great organization’s President. I appreciate the board initiating a process that affords me a few weeks to set my affairs in order, and I am eager to hit the ground running as the new NRA President,” North said in a news release.
He has long been active in the NRA, and is a member of its board. He attended a prayer breakfast at the NRA’s annual convention in Dallas on Saturday.
“I want my grandkids to say that Granddad was a person who taught me how to fight the good fight, how to finish the race, how to keep the faith,” North said, using biblical imagery. “You see, that’s the most important lesson of all: We’re in a fight. We’re in a brutal battle to preserve the liberties that the good Lord presents us.”
NRA Executive Vice President and CEO Wayne LaPierre called North a “legendary warrior for American freedom, a gifted communicator, and skilled leader.” He also added that the North announcement was “the most exciting news for our members since Charlton Heston became President of our Association.”
Strong Move… Hopefully, he can bring more common sense approaches and solutions to the NRA and the American people than we have seen under the current one-sided, completely politically driven or opposed, strategies of politicians and the NRA. We need to educate citizens what happens to a nation who can’t protect themselves!
Semper FI! I will continue to support NRA who continue to support my second amendment rights!!
