Customer Gives The Restaurant Staffers A Surprise Of Their Lives… Along With An Inspiring Holiday Message
It’s Christmas time! There really is good going on in this world!
59 -year-old Dwayne Clarke made an awesome gesture for the staff at The Brief Encounter Cafe in Bellevue, Wash allowing the employees to have a better Christmas Eve.
On Saturday, Dwayne Clark ordered his usual — eggs over easy, hash browns and extra crispy bacon at the Brief Encounter Cafe in Bellevue, Wash. But, when he received his check Clarke decided to do something rather amazing. He scribbled an inspirational Christmas message on the back of his $39.60 bill and included a $3,000 tip on the front.
On the back of the receipt he wrote the following:
“You guys do a great job! When I was 7, I washed dishes and my mom cooked in a diner like this. We were dirt poor and didn’t have money for Christmas. Hopefully, this will help all of you have a better Christmas.”
Hopefully, his message will be understood….start at the bottom, work hard, make good decisions and you too can become successful in the greatest country on earth.
Melanie Bard, the owner of The Brief Encounter Cafe, told “Good Morning America” that she immediately knew the generous tip was from Clark, who has visited her diner for the past eight years.
“He’s a great customer when he comes in,” she said.
But Clark said he doesn’t want accolades for his huge tip — and instead wants to inspire a wave of kindness and giving.
“I eat there a lot and the people who work there have great attitudes, are really hardworking people,” Clark told TODAY. “So when my wife returned to the restaurant from Christmas shopping, we just started talking about the meaning of Christmas. I got the check and I said, ‘I think we’re going to change some people’s lives today.’”
What wonderful display of generosity! The point of this story is to never forget where and what you came from. Great article. The spirit of Christmas is all about giving. This is a great story. The amount doesn’t matter. It is the act that counts.
Wonderful story and a great example for all. I hope all Christians would follow the example of Clark for this special holiday!
